The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for assisting in the timely and accurate completion of monthly and quarterly financial closings in accordance with US GAAP & local GAAP across all entities within the Spanish LatAm joint venture (SPL) and Brazil.
Operating in a highly complex environment, this role requires a qualified accountant with multi-jurisdiction and managerial experience.
This position will report to the Regional Financial Controller, based in Miami, and manages a team of 2, based in Mexico and Colombia, as well as additional offshore accountants.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of day-to-day accounting processes
- Ownership of the monthly close process to ensure accurate financial bookings and timely reporting of financials, balance sheets and P&L reviews for all LatAm legal entities.
- Ensure proper reporting in compliance with local regulations in countries such as, but not limited to, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Panama, and Guatemala.
- Ensure proper corporate reporting in compliance with US GAAP and NBCU policies
- Build, maintain and manage relationships with local country accounting firms to ensure delivery of timely and accurate information
- Work closely with the Director of Transfer Pricing to ensure transfer pricing and tax compliance requirements are met in all local countries
- Lead finance transformation projects in the region, including but not limited to, full SAP integration of current trial balance upload companies
- Review local country payroll reporting and provide variance analysis
- Assist with/lead 3rd party statutory audits
- End to end financial accounting across multiple feeds, departments, currencies, and countries, with a focus on accurate revenue and cost accruals. Involves journal entry review, Interco management and decision making in judgmental areas.
- Identify, address, and communicate the main accounting and compliance risks to facilitate a clean monthly close.
- Escalate any challenges or risks to the Regional Financial Controller/FP&A counterparts and suggest timely solutions.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders including local accounting teams, Global Networks Group Controller, Legal, Corporate Finance, Tax, FP&A, Commercial, Ad Sales, Treasury, and outsource partners.
- Involvement in business-critical projects where required.
- Any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training
Basic Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (CPA/ACA) with at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in US GAAP and significant local country accounting experience in at least 2 of the following countries: Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Panama, and Guatemala
- Experience in controllership / reporting and monthly close processes, including ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Experience of accounting in multiple currency and statutory environments.
- Strong analytics and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high standards in quality and accurate reporting
- Demonstrated experience in finance transformation and process improvement projects
- Language: Fluent in English & Spanish (additional Portuguese language skills advantageous)
